I just got this e-mail from mlb so I decided to set up this thread. As Mayor Daley said "Vote early and vote often."
THREE SOX TAKE EARLY BALLOT LEAD
For the last few years, Jason Varitek has been looked at as the leader of the Red Sox. The switch-hitting captain is a leader in a broader sense at the moment, as he ranks first among American League catchers in the first released results of All-Star balloting.
Joining Varitek, who leads Ivan Rodriguez by about 60,000 votes, atop the rankings is menacing slugger David Ortiz and left fielder Manny Ramirez.
Ortiz -- who made his first All-Star appearance a year ago -- ranks first at DH. With 680,834 votes, he has a large lead over the Yankees' Jason Giambi and the Orioles' Rafael Palmeiro.
Ramirez, who has been a fixture at the All-Star Game, leads all outfielders with 553,959 votes. The RBI machine is seeking his ninth All-Star appearance.
